Note on GSDP –A&N Islands .

The News item appeared in the Sunday Times dated 3 rd June 2012 depicts the quick and advance estimates of the GSDP for the year 2010-2011 and 2011-12 released by the CSO in Feb 2012. The per capita income growth shown as -2.44 indicates that the Per capita income is estimated to decrease in 2011-2012 by -2.44% from the previous year.

These are the estimated figures only and not the actual figures and based on last seven years average, data available upto December 2011 and rates /ratios advised by the CSO, which takes data from various Ministries. These will undergo revision during the year as and when data are available with CSO and Departments.

Based on estimated figures, a joint discussion was held at CSO in April 2012 to discuss/finalize the data for the year 2009-2010. After joint discussion CSO will revise the figures as and when data is received from each State. After the joint discussion data for A&N Islands stands as noted below

Therefore, it is seen that after joint discussion the NSDP growth is around 13.46% and subsequently the estimates are at 8.98% and 8.16%. for the years 2010-11 & 2011-12.

Further, as per the CSO methodology the projected population figures based on 2001 census were used. However on using the actual population as per 2011 census the per capita during 20011-12 will be on higher side.
