Employees are major assets of any organization. This is even more relevant in Government offices which reply on manpower extensively. However, the Govt offices often find it difficult to tap the available manpower efficiently for different tasks, as information about employees is scattered. The employee details that are maintained are neither uniform nor structured. This makes Human Resources management a very difficult task indeed in Govt Offices.
The ideal way to resolve this HR issue is building a enterprise level Human Resources Management System which can maintain database of employees on all aspects and having personal and professional (career) details. The availability of such a system with an online and updated database will make it easy for Govt offices to automate day to day activities like Leave management, Trainings, Promotions, Transfers etc., much more efficiently and correctly.
The e-HRMS system has been designed and developed by NIC in coordination with DoEF, A & N Admin in this context. The system has the following major objectives :
- Maintain database of all employees in Online (Internet) environment in updated manner, so that routine activities of HR management are done efficiently.
- Provide a “Govt to Employee” interface in Internet, so that employees feel that “They are an essential part of the office”.
- System in which it is possible to tap the skills acquired by employees to benefit the office and community as a whole.
