On the occasion of
67th Wildlife Week Celebration, 2021 a weeklong programmes were organized by the Middle Andaman Forest Division, where various activities was conducted from 2nd October, 2021 to 8th October, 2021.
PROGRAMES ORGANISED THROUGHTOUT:
To mark the inauguration of the weeklong celebration of Wildlife Week a Mass motor cycle rally was conducted from Rangat to Betapur via Billiground at 08:30 AM. The rally also included distribution of pamphlet, posters etc to create awareness among the general public towards the protection & conservation of wildlife.
Despite having Covid-19 restriction, division successfully organized various offline competitions such as Essay Writing Competition, Painting Competition and Quiz Competition.
Competition targeted to sensitize the students studying in Class VI to XII in the schools within the Jurisdiction of Middle Andaman Forest Division on the theme
“Forests and Livelihood: Sustaining People and Planet”.
Division received a good number of entries from all the competitions held, therefore division decided to increase the number of prizes to encourage students/residents of Andaman and Nicobar Island.
An awareness programme was organized at Range level for the eminent personalities of the Range on the issue of
“Mitigating Human-Animal Conflict and wildlife related issues”.
Cleaning activities was organized at Range level involving the forest department staffs, workers & general public wherein beaches and Eco-tourism sites under the jurisdiction of all the five Ranges were cleaned with enthusiasm and active participation to a great success.
VALEDICTORY FUNCTION
A quiz competition was conducted for the school students of Class IXth to XIIth under Middle Andaman Division jurisdiction, followed by a story narration by Shri Chanchal Singha Roy, GTT of Education Department of his book “My Friend Dugong” followed by a short documentary film on wildlife of A&N islands.
Followed by this Valedictory Function was organized at the conference hall of Middle Andaman Forest Division at 1030 hrs wherein
Shri Vichitra Veer, IPS, Superintendent of Police, N&M Andaman District was the Chief Guest on the occasion with other eminent guests from other departments of North & Middle Andaman. Ceremonial planting of fruit bearing seedlings was done by the Chief Guest.
A short video on the week long programme organized in the division was also screened. The winners of various competitions held during the week were awarded during the event.
