ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES OF FOREST RANGER

The following are the duties to be performed by the Forest Ranger:

1.Overall-incharge of the forest range and perform/exercise supervisory and protective function in the range
2.They have to disburse all kinds of payment to the staff and workers in the range and are responsible for maintainance of all accounts of a range such as cash accounts, collection, recovery of revenue, timber, POL, elephant ration, stores & stationaries, building etc.
3.They are responsible for enforcement of the provision of Indian Forest Act. 1927. A&N Island Forest produce Transit rules, 1966, the wildlife Protection Act. 1972, the Forest(Conservation) Act. 1980, the Environment Protection Act. 1986, the Coastal Zone Regulation and the rule made there under from time to time and achievement of extraction, targets and NRA targets and preperation of journal/maps etc within the Range jurisdiction.
4.They shall be responsible for the judicious deployment of the labour force and maintainance & upkeep of vehicles/water crafts and live stock etc. provided to the ranger
5.They shall carry out all the civil works of the department i.e construction, maintenance and upkeep of residential and non-residential buildings of the department including the preperation of plan & estimate.
6.They shall guide and supervise the works of subordinate executive staff posted under their control.
7.They shall be required to do any other works as and when assigned to him by his superior Officers.
