Procedure to get Online Clearance

1. What is the procedure to obtain clearance from Licensing Authority/Legal Metrology (CS&CA)?

  1. Verification & stamping certificate (New Instrument)
    1. Application is to be made either online or in person in prescribed format alongwith purchase Bill in case of all instruments including ordinary weighing machine/capacity measures/length measures
    2. In case of Weigh Bridge, Platform scale, Dispensing Units etc. The Model approval accorded from the Central Government alongwith the Inter State verification/Stamping certificate obtained from the Legal Metrology Department of the manufacturing State.

  2. Verification & stamping certificate (Renewal)

    As per the time frame prescribed under the rules/Regulation framed under the Legal Metrology Act for renewal, the concerned required to applying online or in person in prescribed format enclosing the verification/stamping certificate obtained from Legal Metrology Department of this UT.

    In both the above cases, the applicant should produce those movable weighing & measuring instruments before the Legal Metrology Officer alongwith prescribed fees to get in it verified & stamped. If, the instrument is bulky and immovable in nature such as Weigh Bridge, Dispensing Pump etc., the concerned should apply to the Legal Metrology Officer in advance of two weeks from the date of expiry of validity of the certificate and provide the conveyance and other bare minimum requirement prescribed under law to get it verified & stamped.

2. Which office should trader Approach to get Clearance ?

At the Office of the Controller of Legal Metrology functioning in the Directorate of Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs in case of South Andaman Island and before the camp office of the Legal Metrology Officer at out stations.

  2. Dealer Licence:

    1. Certification of authorization appointing the applicant as Dealer by the Manufacturer in case of Weigh Bridge, Platform Scales etc. to deal in the weighing & measuring instruments manufactured by the Company

    2. Annual turnover and Income Tax & GST return

    3. Number and date of registration Number of current shop/establishment/Municipal Trade licence

    4. Details of Manufacture unit alongwith Record Entry/Sketch Map and Building Outline

  3. Repairer licence:

    1. Minimum qualification of ITI from a recognized University (Does not applicable for existing Repairer) or Experience certificate from authorized Company for repairing of the weighing & measuring instruments manufactured by the Company
