Each Head of the department/office within the authority exercises decisions with reference to the functioning of the department/ Office. Wherever policy matters and matters requiring coordination with other offices such of those issues are placed for approval of the Superintending Engineer and A&N Administration through files and orders are obtained. Wherever matters requiring approval of the Government of India, specific approvals are sought for each issue from the Ministry of Power, New Delhi and Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, New Delhi. The guidelines given by the Ministry of Power, Ministry of New & Renewable Energy and the Regulations and Acts of the Electricity Department approved by the govt. and instructions issued from time to time are the basis on which decisions are taken.

For providing various facilities, each office fixes bench marks for performance taking into consideration their work load, manpower, working ability, allocation of budget etc.

The following committees are constituted involving members of the public:

  1. District level Committee in pursuance of section 166(5) of Electricity Act 2003 to review the extension of electrification in each district, review of quality of power supply, consumer satisfaction and to promote energy efficiency & its conservation as per Andaman & Nicobar Administration O.O no. 3910 dtd. 4.10.06
  2. UT level monitoring committee for coordinating and monitoring the implementation of Rural Electrification programme under PMGY as per Andaman & Nicobar Administration O.O no. 3213 dtd. 4.10.06

  1. Rural Electrification Committees are constituted at site office level for Rural Electrification & Monitoring of Power Supply in pursuance to Andaman & Nicobar Administration O.O no. 4147 dtd. 23.10.06.
  2. A Consumer Grievances Redressal Forum(CGRF) has been set up by A&N Administration under section 42(5) of Electricity Act,2003 to redress the grievances of the Electricity consumers in U.T of A&N Islands.
  3. Meetings of these committees/forum are open to the public as well as the minutes of such meetings are accessible for public.

  • Any citizen of this country can obtain information that could be provided under the provisions of the RTI Act by submitting an application along with the application fee as prescribed(Rs.10/-for each application) payable in the form of cash, Demand draft, Indian postal orders drawn in favour of the concerned Executive Engineers of Electricity Department or Accounts officer, Electricity Department giving the correct address and specific requirement of information to the concerned Public Information officer, Electricity Department in the form of letter/e-mail/FAX.
  • Working hours for Superintending Engineer, Executive Engineer and Assistant Engineers office- From 8.30 a.m to 5.00 p.m Monday to Friday excluding holidays; Junior Engineers office – All the site offices are functioning round the clock.
